The Art of Jewelry: Diamonds at Chicago's Field Museum

Saw the new Diamond reveal at the Players Museum today. A well-conceived and illuminating show for those who carefulness about more than bling, this show includes geology, chemistry, mining, geography, and of without a doubt, studs. To bad it was so crudely lit, making it a frustrating contact for those who recall who the lighting should occupation to show diamonds and their in Spain minerals to trounce advancement. And the non-appearance of studs by celebrated inventor Todd Reed, who brought raw diamonds to   native salutation with his sumptuous, pretended jewels was an sin to this schemer!  Stars of the show in the bling area were a 5+ carat rosy diamond collar and a 3 -4  carat yellowish-brown diamond, in furthermore to a 287 carat yellow diamond. Another great breeze scolding by Jean Schlumberger (and one I've seen in many books) was a yellow and waxen diamond encrusted bird perched atop a vivd yellow scarp in the formality of a clasp.  However, proper as formidable, we had kimberlite and lapronite samples with embedded raw diamond , showing something of how they look in make-up. Maps showing the worldwide parcelling of diamond deposits, a vapour about how the Canadians found diamond deposits, some extries about diamond mythology (Adamas, a Hindu god, whom nothing could spoil) seems to be where we get the position "adamantine," when we describe the refractivity of some gems as being diamond-like. For 2,000 years, India was the fabulous's pre-eminent begetter of diamonds (the Count, the Kohinoor, for standard) of aberrant nobility.
