Danny was in heaven on earth, wandering alone in the Cyclopean and almost unbearably appealing area. After battling the pull to interfere through the closets and drawers of Valerien's pulchritudinous slight salad dressing margin, which was furnished in the heavily royal variety of Louis XVIII with round steady-seats flanking a red-marble fireside and a splendidly-draped daybed between two flamboyantly curtained windows, he tiptoed through the incomparable blackguardly-and-gold bars bedroom as modestly as he could, so as not to wake Valerien and Marquesa, who had rolled into each-others' missiles and continued sleeping... , shimmering on the perfect wood surfaces and absurd satin upholsteries, and glittering in the crystals of the enthusiastic chandeliers and sconces was almost more than he could tolerate, and he found himself flashing time to disburden blurring tears from his eyes. The way the sunbeams slanted through the absurd east-fa windows to fill the eat one's heart out and leading apartment with animated diffused explanation made him yen he had the deftness of painting or photography with which to take hold of the sorcery of that elbow-room. The other rooms Danny encountered were mutually as lovely, but they were substantially smaller in gamut than the salon and bedroom, vast but not wide open... a grand yellow-and-gunk Louis XV dining dwell and a little brilliant of a library or learning encased in pseudo involved marquetry paneling completed the enfilade of front rooms flanked at each end by linen-canopied terraces heaving with twinkling potted plant life and otherworldly off-white wicker accoutrements. At the facing end of the position was another pleasant bedroom, juicily sissified in the Louis XVI make with embroidered rose-tinted roses and not enough porcelain shepherdesses everywhere, reminiscent of Marie Antoinette's bedroom in the Petit Trianon.
